A Race Car for the Road

BMW E82 · Mercedes M113 V8 Swap

A wolf in sheep's clothing — race-car suspension precision with OEM-level daily reliability.

The Mercedes 5.0L M113 is a simple, reliable engine — Europe's answer to the GM LS family — compact and, at 170kg, only a couple of kilos heavier than the factory inline-six it replaced. Fitting it only required flipping the intake manifold 180 degrees and building custom engine mounts.

A MaxxECU standalone, tuned by JPR Engineering, integrates perfectly with the E82's chassis electronics — every OEM function was kept, right down to the air conditioning — behind a fully custom engine wiring loom.

Driveline

  • Aftermarket clutch and adapter plate mating a BMW 6-speed diesel gearbox to the M113
  • BMW E34 limited-slip differential with additional friction plates, adapted to the E82 subframe
  • BMW E90 330d axles, rated for 600Nm+

Rear Suspension

  • Rear subframe solidly mounted to the chassis
  • Every bushing replaced with rose joints for race-car precision
  • Geometry replicates the BMW E90 M3, with a different toe curve via custom toe arms
  • Upgraded rear sway bar

Front Suspension

  • Full rose-joint front suspension setup
  • Custom camber arm adjusts caster and camber together
  • BMW E90 M3 KW V3 dampers, custom mounted to the E82 knuckles

Brakes

  • Front 4-piston calipers on 340mm discs, 336mm discs at the rear
  • Inline hidden hydraulic handbrake for tight hairpins

Exhaust

  • Full custom exhaust built from a mix of OEM and aftermarket parts
