Hill Climb Race Car
BMW E36 · GM LS3 V8 Swap
Big power, big tire, big aero — engineered to win hill climbs, not just look the part.
Around 480hp from a bone-stock LS3, put down through 300mm-to-330mm-wide tires, with hundreds of kilograms of downforce holding it all to the road. Every system on this car was engineered in-house, not bolted together from a catalog.
The stock Corvette 6.2L V8 sits on a custom subframe with custom engine and gearbox mounts. Every factory ancillary was stripped for weight, replaced with a BMW alternator, a BMW electric water pump, and a Mercedes electric power steering pump, all run by a Motec ECU tuned by JPR Engineering.
Driveline
- BMW 6-speed diesel gearbox mated to the LS3 via a custom adapter and flywheel
- BMW E34 210mm limited-slip differential with additional friction plates
- E34 M5 axles handling power to the rear wheels
Suspension
- Fully bespoke front suspension — the world's first double-wishbone E36 conversion
- Custom knuckles and arms mating centerlock 18×13J wheels to the chassis
- Adjustable rear arms with a custom pushrod system for optimal wheel travel
- KW Competition 4-way adjustable dampers
Brakes
- Porsche Cayenne calipers on 350mm front / 345mm rear discs
- Adjustable brake bias on Girling-style master cylinders
- Inline hydraulic handbrake
- BMW E90 M3 Teves Mk60E5 ABS system
Exhaust
- Custom long-tube headers with equal-volume runners
- NASCAR-style side-exit exhaust
Aero & Body
- Full widebody kit, roughly 300mm wider than stock
- Full-width front splitter rigidly mounted to the chassis
- Angled cooling radiator exits through the hood for cooling and front downforce
- Complete flat underbody feeding a 180cm rear diffuser
- 200cm-wide rear wing completing the aero package
From the Portfolio
E36 projects behind this build
Individual parts from the portfolio that were engineered for the E36 platform — some built specifically for this car.

Suspension & Chassis
Double-Wishbone Front Suspension Conversion
A ground-up double-wishbone front conversion built to run 300mm-wide slicks, engineered through full kinematic and tire-model simulation rather than trial and error.

Suspension & Chassis
Rear Pushrod Damper Conversion
A rear pushrod damper installation giving 150mm of wheel travel, so the suspension can absorb real-world bumps while still handling heavy downforce without bottoming out.

Suspension & Chassis
Adjustable Rear Coilover Top Mount
A rear top mount engineered to accept adjustable coilover dampers like HSD, built around a Motorsport Grande uniball in a machined aluminum housing.

Brakes & Wheels
Big Brake Kit with Alfa Romeo Giulia Caliper
A big brake kit built around a 340mm disc and an Alfa Romeo Giulia caliper, with a CNC-machined steel bracket engineered for durability rather than a cast aluminum adapter.

Brakes & Wheels
Centerlock Wheel Conversion
A centerlock hub adapter letting the E36 run 18-inch 13J Nissan GT3 Nismo wheels, with a wheel nut based on the Porsche 917 BBS design.

Brakes & Wheels
Custom Wheel Spacers
Precision wheel spacers built in whichever style actually suits the hub — pressed-in studs, pressed-in steel inserts, or simple through-bolt — rather than one generic design forced onto every car.

Brakes & Wheels
Brake Booster Delete with Bias Adjustment
A brake booster delete built around dual Girling-style master cylinders, with a remote lever for on-the-fly brake bias adjustment and a pedal ratio tuned for street-car pedal effort.

Exhaust & Cooling
LS3 Equal-Volume Long-Tube Header
A NASCAR-style side-exit LS3 header, volume-balanced for a 5,300rpm powerband and sized with headroom for a future 235°-duration cam upgrade.

Drivetrain & Powertrain
LS3-to-BMW Gearbox Adapter
A laser-cut steel bellhousing adapter mating an LS3 V8 to a BMW gearbox, paired with a hybrid steel-aluminum flywheel that runs the stock BMW clutch against an LS3 flexplate.
